Looking for others researching this family:

Parker was born September 24, 1818 in either Ohio or Pennsylvania. (Census records show both states.) He died August 11, 1908 near DeWitt, Clinton County, Iowa. Married Mary A.; born February 18, 1820; died March 1, 1874, probably in Clinton County. Both are buried in the Elmwood Cemetery in DeWitt. Parker remarried Rachelle E. before the 1880 census; his obituary did not list her as surviving him.

Children were Amanda (5/20/1850 - ?; m. Winfield Scott Neville (?)), George (8/30/1851 - 2/4/1937; m. Margaret Walrod), William (3/4/1853 - ?; m. Eliza), Joseph Y. (4/26/1855 - 8/7/1920; m. Dolly Emert), Jesse 9/16/1856 - 2/8/1931); m. Hattie, Eli C (11/1/1859 - ?), Oliver 9/13/1862 - 11/15/1862) and Ida (7/18/1864 - 4/1881).

Parker and Mary lived in Luzerne Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He is shown as a "wagoner" in the 1894 book, "The Old Pike," by Thomas B. Searight, Chapter 20. In Chapter 35, he kept the "red tavern" west of the "old Peter Colley stand." He is also listed as a "school director" of the Redstone School in Franklin Ellis' "History of Fayette County, Pennsylvania," 1882.

The family moved to DeWitt Township, Clinton County, Iowa, before the 1880 census. Parker owned and farmed in SE DeWitt Township. George, Joseph, Jesse, and William subsequently farmed in DeWitt Township; Eli may have driven wagons to or from Chicago.

We have both the Parker and George McDonald family Bibles.
