MAQUOKETA — Betty Jane Balliu Pedersen, age 84, of Maquoketa, died on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at the Legacy House in Ocala, Florida. A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2009, from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. Betty’s family will receive friends on Friday, January 16, 2009, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carson and Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa, where a 6:45 p.m. vigil service will be held. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Maquoketa. Betty is survived by her husband, Leonard Pedersen of Maquoketa, IA; children, Mary (Tom) Hense of Dubuque, IA, Michael (Kathleen Lane) Balliu of Chicago, IL, Marty (Tammy) Balliu of Maquoketa, IA, Diane (Michael) Feeney of AZ, and Eric Pedersen of Madison, WI; 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Edna Riedesel of Rio-Rancho, NM.
