The Clinton Herald Friday December 28, 1928 p. 5 Mrs. Johanna Schroeder Roenfeldt, widow of Hans Roenfeldt, age 83 years, passed away this morning at 2:30 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gus Lueders, residing on the Main avenue road, following an illness of five days. Pneumonia was the cause of her demise. Funeral services will be held Monday at o’clock at the Gus Lueders home. The Rev. George W. Kroeger, of the Zion Lutheran church will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot in the Center Grove cemetery. Johanna Katrina Roenfeldt nee Schroeder, daughter of the late Jochim and Margretha Schroeder, was born in Hohenfeld, Holstein, Germany, May 20, 1845, and was 83 years, seven months and eight days of age at the time of her demise. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church, and came to America November 7, 1864 at the age of 19 years. January 20, 1866 she was united in marriage to Hans Detlef Roenfeldt, who preceded her in death December 3, 1899. She had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Gus Lueders the past three years. Mrs. Roenfeldt was a kind and loving wife and mother, highly respected throughout the county. She is survived by three sons August, Herman and Otto Roenfeldt and four daughters, Mrs. Margaret Hansen, Mrs. Caroline Buech, Mrs. Augusta Holm and Mrs. Annie Lueders all of this vicinity. One daughter Emma Naeve preceded her in death a year ago, also two children passed away in infancy. There are 25 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and three brothters, Jochim Schroeder of Schleswig, Peter Schroeder of Manning and August Schroeder of West Side.
