The Clinton Herald Tuesday March 18, 1975 p. 8 Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph W. Gassman, 49, 200 N. 5th St., who died Monday in Veterans Hospital in Iowa City, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. E.J. Weeg will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Snyder-Schmitz Funeral Home, where the parish Rosary will be recited at 7:30. A prayer service in the funeral home will precede the Mass. Pallbearers will be Earl Schluns, Frank Klinge, Ed Dierksen, Russell Short, Leonard Knochenmus and Frank Simmons. Mr. Gassman was born to Joseph and Elizabeth (Klein) Gassman in Clinton April 1, 1925. He married Marie A. Bertrand Sept. 9, 1950, in Clinton. He was employed at Alcoa Company for the past 25 years and was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Mr. Gassman was a World War II veteran. Survivors include his widow; two sons, Stephen and Mark, at home; four daughters, Mar and Kathy, at home, Anne and Donna, of Springfield, Ill.; his mother, in Clinton; two brothers, George, Iowa City, and James, Clinton; two sisters, Mrs. Marvin (Mae) Bienlein, Schwarzwaldstr., West Germany, and Mrs. Ralph (Alice) Desjardins, Los Angeles, Calif. He was preceded in death by his father, one son, and a sister.
