DEWITT — Mr. Leo Trimble, 89, DeWitt, died Sunday, morning, December 14, 2008, at Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt. A funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at the church with a rosary at 3:00 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Villa Nova Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph School. Pallbearers will be Lou Biel, Mike Schafer, Don Shumaker Jr., Rick Schrader, Matthew Trimble and Will Burke. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Burke, Nathan Edwards, Ryan Carstensen, Josh Trimble, Tyler Trimble and Brennan Trimble. Mr. Trimble was born Leo Francis Trimble, on Easter Sunday, April 20, 1919, at Villa Nova, Iowa, to Thomas and Mary Isabelle (McDonnell) Trimble. Leo married Rosalie C. McGarry February 22, 1941, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Villa Nova. The couple farmed in the Villa Nova area until retirement in 1982. They moved to DeWitt in 1987. Leo was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Villa Nova, as well as St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, and the Knights of Columbus. God, his wife and his family were foremost in Leo’s life. He was a farmer through and through and found great joy in every aspect of it. Leo, a very caring man enjoyed chats on almost any subject over a warm cup of tea. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Leo was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all. Left to honor his memory include his loving wife of 67 years, Rosalie; children, Rosamond (Louie) Biel, DeWitt, Rita (Jim) Schafer, Bardstown, Kentucky, Mary Kay (Don) Shumaker, Davenport, Maureen (Dennis) Schrader, Welton, Lee (Linda) Trimble, McHenry, Illinois, Beth (Gary) Burke, DeWitt, Becky (Tom) Burke, Charlotte, Teresa (Bill) Edwards, DeWitt, Peggy (Joel) Carstensen, Charlotte, Loren (Anne) Trimble, Schaumburg, Illinois, Garry (Gayle) Trimble, DeWitt, and Joe (Rusti) Trimble, St. Paul, Minnesota; 44 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and three more great-grandchildren in 2009; brothers, Mick, Denver, Colorado and Jack, Tucson, Arizona; a sister, Teresa Trimble, Charlotte; sisters-in-law, Bertine Trimble, Clinton, Anna Trimble, Surprise, Arizona, Barb Trimble, Dubuque Diane Trimble, DeWitt and Lynne Trimble, Davenport. Preceding Leo in death were an infant daughter, Rosalie Frances; his parents; and siblings, Joe, Robert, Mary, Charlie, Gerald, Ambrose, Paul and Tom.
