DEWITT — Robert Herman Thurloff, 96, formerly of DeWitt and Clinton, died December 23, 2008 in Walnut Creek, CA. Mr. Thurloff was born in Genesee, Wisconsin on November 7, 1912 to Alfred and Ida Hackbarth Thurloff. He married Helen Oesterborg on October 12, 1935 in the DeWitt Congregational Church.Mr. Thurloff retired from Clinton Corn Processing Co. in 1977 and moved to California. He enjoyed being outside, gardening, walking and visiting with friends. He also enjoyed dancing, especially square dancing. He was “Papa” to his family and he cherished the time spent with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Helen; daughters, Ramona (Larry) Loth of Walnut Creek, CA and Roberta Hartman (George Brod) of Rocklin, CA. Grandchildren and great grandchildren include: Kurt (Rose) Loth, Hannah, Robert and Max; Lynn (Richard) Williams, Molli and Ryan; Karen (Shawn) Smidebush, Madison and Jordan; Wendy (Reneé) Azurin, Ashley and Katelyn; David (Kris) Hartman, Trevor and Trista. Also surviving are brothers Arthur (Catherine) of Oconomowoc, WI, Herbert (Jeanne) and sister-in-law, Hilda Thurloff of Watertown, WI, brother-in-law, Lowell Oesterborg (Rosella) of Ft. Worth, TX and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lydia Mudgett and brother Martin Thurloff.Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
