Mrs. Emilia Stallbaum, the daughter of Adam and Christine Walther, was born in Germany, March 05, 1871, and died at the Larson nursing home at St. Olaf, Oct. 08, 1955, at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 3 days.

Mrs. Stallbaum came to the United States with her mother at the age of ten, along with three sisters and one brother. Her father came earlier to establish a home for his wife and family.

After living a few years in Clermont, Elgin and Mederville, the family moved to a farm near Osborne.

On Nov. 29, 1908, in the home of her parents, she was united in marriage by the late Rev. C. H. Franke of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church of Elkader to Louis J. Stallbaum. After their marriage they resided on the Stallbaum farm south of Elkader and then moved to Elkader, later moving to Dubuque and returning to Elkader in 1932 where she lived until the death of her husband in 1952. Shortly after the death of her husband she moved to the Larson nursing home where she died.

Mrs. Stallbaum was a member of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church of Elkader.

She began to fail in health about a year ago and for the past six months was confined more or less to a chair.

She is survived by one sister, Emma, Mrs. Fred Schultz of Postville, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Three sisters and one brother preceded her in death: Mary, Mrs. John Falb; Anna, Mrs. Charles Huebner; Lena, Mrs. Roy Smith, and William Walther.

Services were held Tuesday, Oct. 11, from the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church with the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating.

Burial was in the East Side cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Clyde Smith, Leo Walther, George Huebner, John Falb, Bob Martindale and Bob Dinan.

Those attending from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Cords of Dubuque; Will Miller, Mr. and Mrs. John Falb. George Falb, Herbert Falb, Elgin; John Falb Jr. of Postville; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Walther, Carl Huebner of Garnavillo; Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Schultz, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Martindale, R. C. Huebner, George Huebner, Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Miller, and Elsie Schultz of Postville.
