Mrs. Gunil Olson was born in Numedal, Norway, Feb. 16th, 1842 and later came to this country. In 1863 she was married to Levi Olson and thirteen children were born to them, all of whom survive, viz., Mrs. Ole Olson, of Norwood, N.D.; Mrs. George Geiser, of Jackson, Minn.; Mrs. J. J. Smith, Gilbert and Willie, of Ruthven, Iowa; Lars, Knut, Theodore and Hans, of St. Olaf; Mrs. Wm. Carney, of Fredericksburg, Iowa; Mrs. Ed Eggen, of Monona; Nels, of Clermont, and Ole, of Minnesota. She is also survived by two brothers and two sisters, Mrs. Marrie Bergan and Gilbert Torkelson, of Gunder, Iowa; Mrs. Albert Light, of West Union, and Lars Torkelson, of Ruthven, Iowa.
She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ed Eggen, near Monona, on Tuesday, March 10th, 1914 at 3:30 p.m.
She was laid to rest in the Norway cemetery on Sunday, March 15th, Rev. Arveson conducting the funeral services.
