Funeral services for William H. Weger, 67, retired farmer of Strawberry Point, were held at Emanuel Lutheran church in Strawberry Point Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. S. J. Meyer officiating. A short prayer service was held at the Gill chapel preceding the final rites. Burial was at St. Sebald cemetery north of Strawberry Point.
Mr. Weger was born near Strawberry Point on Dec. 12, 1885, the son of George and Caroline Greisinger Weger. On February 08, 1912, he was married to Anna Baumgartner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Baumgartner of the St. Sebald vicinity. The couple farmed in the St. Sebald area and one son was born to the couple but he died in infancy. Thirteen years ago they moved to Strawberry Point and here Mrs. Weger died in August of 1945. On July 26, 1952, he was united in marriage with Mrs. Leta Crawford at Emanuel Lutheran church in Strawberry Point. On Saturday evening, Feb. 21, Mr. Weger suffered a heart attack at his home and died about 7 o'clock that evening.
Survivors in addition to his wife are a sister, Mrs. L. H. Neumann (Sophia) of Strawberry Point; a step-mother, Mrs. Mary Weger of Strawberry Point; and five half-sisters, Mrs. Theo Falck (Emma) of Strawberry Point, Mrs. Martin Baumgartner (Lena) of Strawberry Point, Mrs. Minnie Lindner of Roseburg, Oregon, Mrs. Gusta Griesse of Rock Rapids, Iowa and Mrs. William Haufle (Elizabeth) of Strawberry Point. His parents and a sister, Mrs. Mary Griesse of Rock Rapids, Iowa, also preceded him in death.
