The contributor extracted the following short death notice from the letter of Rev. Mr. Sloan, written to the Union Sabbath School of McGregor,
Dated Dec. 11, 1862, Houston, Mo.
... the sad event of the sudden death of another of our soldiers, a member of Co. B, Orien Fallen, of Cox's Creek. He came in on the morning of Friday, from standing upon picket guard, sick and died the following Sabbath of lung fever. He was a good boy of 19 years.~Weekly North Iowa Times, Wednesday, December 31 , 1862; pg 2
