Funeral services for Mrs. Frank Blaha, 83, who died at the Postville hospital Saturday morning, Oct. 26, were held at the Schultz funeral home on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 1:45 p.m., and at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran church at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. R. C. Schlueter in charge. Burial was in the City cemetery.
Anna Mary Blaha, daughter of Henry Schutte and Lena nee Pupke, was born at Garnavillo, August 01, 1874. She was married to Frank V. Blaha at Postville, February 25, 1902. They established their home on a farm located on Pleasant Ridge near Monona. Five children were born to this union, three having died in infancy. Two daughters, Marie and Ploma survive. On January 24, 1928, the family moved to Monona.
Mrs. Blaha was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran church and of the Lutheran Ladies Aid of which she was made an honorary member. Her 80th birthday was celebrated on Aug. 01, 1954, by the Ladies Aid.
On Sunday evening, September 15, she broke her hip at her home and was taken to the Postville hospital for care. Complications set in and she died on Saturday, Oct. 26.
Surviving are: two daughters, Marie Blaha of Washington, D.C., and Ploma Blaha of Monona; a brother, Henry Schuette at the Good Samaritan home in West Union. Her parents, her husband, three children, and one sister preceded her in death.
Music for the services was provided by Mrs. Otmar Bruns and Mrs. Robert Hubacher, who were accompanied by Mrs. George Heins Jr., organist.
Pallbearers were: Glenn Crain, Fred Hass, Frank Tayek, Frank Sudol, Lowell Fox, Henry Lenth.
Those from out-of-town attending the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Muscheweske, L. C. Lenth, and Mrs. Marie Wahls, Elkader; Mrs. Douglas E. Wolf, Edgewood; Carl Lenth, Riceville; Mrs. Anna Kessler, Janesville, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Herold, Prairie du Chien, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Oswald, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Steinbach, Bridgeport, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Herold, Miss Emma Herold, and Mrs. Edith Steinbach of Wauzeka, Wis.
