DIED - At Janesville, Wis. Oct ---, John Wilson, formerly of McGregor, and late of Chicago, aged [30 or 36] years. The announcement of the death of Wilson, cast a gloom over the hearts of his many friends in McGregor. The deceased was born in Ireland, and was one of the best specimens of gentlemanly geniality that ever left that land of chivalry and song.
He was formerly in the employ of D.F. Cook, of this place, and afterwards in the Post Office, and all relations, either of a business or social character, he won hosts of friends. At the time of his death he was arranging a business enterprise at Janesville, on his own account, and had every prospect of a sucessful future.
The partner of his domestic life was absent on a brief visit to eastern friends; she reached home to find her beloved husband in the land of shadows and all her hopes dashed to earth by the relentless destroyer. For him, we may confidently believe the scenes are brighter; for her, life has lost its charms and the tongue falters in its vain efforts at condolence.
Farewell, thou noble heart!
