Henry Dahl, son of August and Sophia Harnack Dahl, was born Nov. 29, 1884, in Farmersburg township, Clayton county, Iowa, and died suddenly Wednesday morning, June 19, 1957, from a heart attack.
Mr. Dahl spent his entire life at the place of his birth.
On Nov. 18, 1908, he was married to Sophia Staack at the home of her parents.
He chose farming as his occupation, was a member of the school board, was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's church at Garnavillo, and was a member of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church, Clayton Center.
Mr. Dahl was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sophia (Mrs. Henry Schroeder), and a daughter, Gladys in infancy.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter Mildred (Mrs. John Kuehl Jr.), Elkport, and a son, Harold, St. Olaf, two brothers, George of Chicago City, Minn., and Eldo C. of Wolcottville, Ind.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 22, at 2 p.m. at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran church, Clayton Center, with the Rev. J. H. Zerhusen officiating. Burial was in the new Clayton Center cemetery. Pallbearers were Herman Mueller, Lavern Funk, Keith Meyer, Carl Klinkenberg, Francis Behning and Carl Meyer.
