The death of Captain Andy W. Drips, of company "A" 9th Iowa regiment, at the battle of Pea Ridge, has produced a profound sensation in our community.
Not many years ago, Capt. D., or "Andy" as old acquaintances delight to call him, was editor of the Clayton County HERALD, a position in which he made many friends. Selling out to his associate, he went to Maquoketa, where he engaged in conduction the EXCELSIOR until he felt an irresistible impulse to go again into the service of his county.
We learn from the Clayton County JOURNAL that he leaves a large circle of family relatives in this county, who will not alone be sorrow-stricken.
