The death of Mrs. Edward Farrell, 64, occurred Mar. 05, 1957, at the McGregor hospital, where she had been a patient for seven days. She had been in failing health the past three years, due to a heart condition.

Lucy Ellen Fredrick was born September 17, 1892, at Strawberry Point, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Fredrick. Following her marriage to Edward Farrell, they farmed a number of years before moving to Volga, where they made their home with her father. Mr. Farrell died in July, 1951.

Surviving are seven daughters and two sons: Mrs. Cy (Mildred) Kraus, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Robert (Mae) Hanna, Mason City; Edward Farrell, Strawberry Point; Mrs. Andrew (Lucille) Kozul, Troy, Ohio; Mrs. Herman (Marian) Hakert, Elkader; Mrs. Lloyd (Calista) Thompson, Waterloo; Joseph Farrell, North Washington, and Miss Patricia Farrell at home. A son, John Farrell, was a World War II casualty. There are also twenty-one grandchildren and other relatives.

Mrs. Farrell was a member of the Sacred Heart church, the Women's Guild, the Volga Legion Auxiliary and a gold star mother.

Services were held Saturday, March 09, 1957, at Sacred Heart church at 9:30 a.m., with the Rev. Karl J. Klein, pastor, celebrant of the requiem high mass. Casket bearers were Wm. Ehrhardt, Harry Kelleher, Elkader; Robert W. Garms, Wm. Christeleit, Wm. Moore and Francis Cummings, Volga. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery, Elkader.

Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral included: Mrs. Estella Eager, Mitchell, S.Dak.; Mrs. Hannah Fredrick, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Fredrick, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fredrick, Rock Island, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Farrell, Raymond Farrell, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Frank Farrell, Elkader; all of the children and their families.
