Clayton County Register, 08 Oct. 1941.
Funeral services for Gerald Frederick Perseen [sic] were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Glenn S. Hartong. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
As a son of Olaf and Kathryn Perseen, he was born Feb. 11, 1918, on a farm in Delaware county near Dundee and died Thursday at the parental home one mile north of Strawberry Point. He has been confined as an invalid for the past nine years. His illness was brought on by an injury received in his freshman year of high school, which finally caused his death. He is survived by his parents, two brothers and one sister, Earnest of Strawberry Point, Burdette of Earlville and Mrs. Lewis (Irma) Hansi_ of Delhi. One sister preceded him in death, having died in infancy.
All his life he has lived on farms with his parents in the vicinity of Edgewood, Littleport and Strawberry Point, except for a period of four years during which the family resided in Oelwein.
Gerald was baptized in the Swedish church at Delhi in his infancy. The nine years of confinement to a wheel chair prevented him from normal expressions of boyhood but he has been a patient sufferer until the very end.
He enjoyed his trips to town and loved to watch the people in their activities. His absence will be missed by the members of his family who did all that tender care and medical science could do to restore his physical body and maintain his spiritual interests in the things of life.
