On Saturday evening occurred the death of Mrs. Anna Maria Kennicker at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Louis Desotel, of this city, the cause of her death being old age.

She was born October 5, 1827, at Hanover, Germany, being 83 years, 11 months and 11 days old at the time of her death. She was married to Christian Kennicker at Hanover, Germany, who died four years ago.

They came to America a number of years ago, and for the past 18 years deceased had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Louis Desotel and family where she received the best of care, until she was called home by the Angel of death.

She leaves to mourn her death five children and a number of grandchildren. The children are: Frank Kennicker, North Buena Vista, Mrs. A. Rapp, Jos. Kennicker and Mrs. Adam Steger, Dubuque, and Mrs. Louis Desotel.

Mrs. Kennicker was a resident of this vicinity for many years and was a kind and true wife, mother and friend.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at St. Mary's church, Rev. Father Brinkman officiating and same was largely attended. The remains were laid to rest at Mt. Olivet cemetery, near this city.

- The obituary of her husband Christian (d. 1907) implies that she was his 2nd wife, but her obit does the opposite. His obit gives maiden name of his 1st wife as BATKA

- To 'muddy the waters' further, the 1900 US census, Boardman twp. enumerates Christ Kennicker, HOH, b. Sept 1832, age 67, b. in Germany and his wife, Mary, b. July 1850, age 49, b. Iowa, father b. Ireland, mother b. Virginia, mother of 0 children. The number of years married for both is 5y.
