Clayton County Register, 23 July 1941.

FARMERSBURG: Mrs. Cora Kurth, nee Henkes, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Henkes, was born January 1_, 1886, in Clayton county, Iowa.

On December 20, 1916, she was united in marriage to Fred Kurth. Here she undertook the task of rearing two step-children - Eldon and Irene, which she did to the best of her ability. Besides the step-children this union was blessed with two children - Dale and Virgil.

Mrs. Kurth was a mother to her children, a homemaker for her husband and family, delighting especially in the upkeep of her house and the growth of flowers.

For a number of years she has been in poor health, and for the past year has been confined to her bed very regularly. Her devoted family did all they could to alleviate her sufferings, and to show their love and regard for the wife and mother. She died at 12:45 p.m., on July 15, 1941, having reached only the age of 54 years, six months and three days.

She leaves to mourn, her husband, her children Dale and Virgil, step-children Eldon and Irene; also two sisters, Mrs. John Krambeer of Luana, Mrs. Lottie Russell of Mason City. One brother Howard Henkes of Harpers Ferry, and a host of relatives and friends. Her mother and father, three sisters and one brother have preceded her in death.

Pallbearers were her nephew (nephews ?) Lloyd Russell, Vernis Henkes, Elmer Fuelling, Glen Kurth, Vernan Kurth, Gerald Krambeer. Flower girls, her nieces Dorothy Kurth, Inez Kurth, Ethlyn Kurth, Shirley Schneider, Isabell Sass, Gertie Henkes and Marjorie Henkes.

She was buried in the Monona cemetery.
