Funeral services were held here in St. Joseph's church last Friday morning for Michael Malary, who died in the Veterans' hospital on March 10th. The Very Rev. Msgr. J. P. Taken officiated, assisted by Richard, Robert, Edw. Jr. Schmid and Bernard Nuss of Manchester, nephews of the deceased.
Interment was in St. Joseph's cemetery in charge of the local post of the American Legion with Clarence B. Moser of Strawberry Point serving as commander.
Pallbearers were Ed. Finley, Gerald Feeney, John and Leo Roach, Lester Connor and Thos. Cassidy.
Michael Francis Malary, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Malary, was born August 04, 1889 in Highland township, this county, where he spent most of his life. On January 14, of this year, he entered the Veteran's hospital in Des Moines where he died, March 10th.
He was a veteran of the World War having been stationed at Camp Meade, Maryland, with Co. E, 211th Engineers. His father and one brother preceded him in death.
He is survived by his mother, two brothers, Pat of Independence and John of Mason City, and eight sisters, Mrs. Mary Crane of Strawberry Point; Sr. M. Alphonsus of Clare; Mrs. Stella Farrell of Elkader; Mrs. Anna Crane of Ryan; Mrs. Margaret Nuss and Mrs. Veronica Schmid of Manchester; Mrs. Martha Gage of Wadena; and Mrs. Elizabeth Mackely of Mason City, as well as 32 nephews and nieces and one uncle and aunt a a host of friends.
