VOLGA CITY: Mrs. Martha Jane Hill, daughter of Mrs. Mary Lamphier of Volga City, Iowa, was born on May 03, 1891, near the village of Volga. After eight months of illness, she died Feb. 01, 1941, at her home at 1695 Asbury St., Dubuque.
She was baptized at the Christian church in Volga City. In February 1910 she was united in marriage to Eli Hill, who died in 1938.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mae Hubanks of Dubuque; two grandsons, Harlo and Burton; her mother at Volga; eight brothers and sisters, Bert Lamphier of Oelwein, Mrs. Sylvia Kirby of Chicago, Mrs. Esther Quarterman of Galesburg, Ill., Henry Lamphier of Volga, Mrs. Arline Burns of Fayette, Earl Lamphier of Arlington, Lillian Lamphier of Volga and Harlo Lamphier of Fayette; also five nieces and one nephew, and many other relatives and friends.
Services were held from the home of her mother in Volga and from the Presbyterian church.
