Frederick John August Gerloff, the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Gerloff, was born Dec. 08, 1898, on the parental farm near Garber, in Volga township. He was baptized on May 10, 1899, at Elkport Emmanuel Lutheran church and confirmed on April 05, 1914, at the same church. On Sept. 22, 1926, He was married to Miss Alma Maier at Littleport. To this union were born for daughters, one of whom died at birth.
The young couple settled on the parental farm and have operated it since.
Mr. Gerloff has been in ill health for several years. He died Nov. 02 at Dubuque. He had attained the age of 49 years, eight months and 23 days.
He is survived by his wife, Alma; three daughters, Rosadele, Leanna, and Lafonda, all of Garber; one brother, William, of Cortland, N.Y.; six sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Beeh of Elkport, Mrs. Martha Horstman of Guttenberg, Mrs. Adelia Haught of Strawberry Point, Mrs. Clara Amling of Elkport, Mrs. Lilian Harbaugh of Malalia, Ore., and Miss Zelda Gerloff of Bend, Ore.
His parents, a brother and sister had preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from St. Paul's Lutheran church at Garnavillo. Burial was at the Garnavillo cemetery.
