DIED. At Arlington Heights, Va., of congestion of the lungs, on the 1st of Feb., 1862, Albert L. Fisk, of Company C, 6th Regiment of Wisconsin Volunteers. The deceased was a brother of our fellow-citizen A.C. Fisk.

He enlisted at Prairie du Chien with Capt. Hooe. He was a resident of McGregor for the two years prior to his enlistment and was the employ of Mathew McKinnie in the tinning business.

The deceased was 22 years of age; he died in the service of his country and left a large circle of friends and acquaintances to mourn his early death. He was buried with the honors of war, Capt. Hooe, and Lieutenants Plummer and Harris conducting the ceremonies. His grave overlooks the city of Washington. A beautiful pine tree spreads its green boughs over the ground that covers all that was mortal of Albert L. Fisk.

Peace to the ashes of the brave!

~North Iowa Times, Wednesday, February 12, 1862; pg 2

Note: 1860 U.S. census, Mendon twp., Albert Fisk, age 21 was enumerated in the employ of Mathew McKinney, as a Clerk. The census indicates he was born in Wisconsin.
