Funeral services for Mrs. Jesse Turner, 72, a lifelong resident of Elkader, were held from the Witt funeral chapel Thursday afternoon, Jan. 08. at 2:30 o'clock to the Congregational Christian church at 3 o'clock. The Rev. Herbert G. Kelly officiated. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.

Mrs. Turner died at her home in Elkader late Monday, Jan. 05, of a stroke following thirteen months' illness.

Fanny Laura Crowe was born at Elkader, Aug. 16, 1875, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Crowe. She received her education in the Elkader public school, where she completed three years of high school. On Oct. 07, 1896, she was married to Jesse Byron Turner of Elkader. Twelve children were born to this union. Mr. and Mrs. Turner were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary Oct. 07, 1946.

Mrs. Turner was a member of the Congregational Christian church and the Ladies Guild of that church. She was also a member of the Service Star Legion, Inc., having had a son in the first World War and one son, two sons-in-law, and three grandsons in World War II.

She is survived by her husband, four sons and five daughters, namely: Fred, Hanover, Ill.; Clinton, Des Moines; and Walter and Raymond of Elkader; Mrs. Fred B. (Jessie) Schmidt, Muskogee, Okla.; Mrs. Norman (Frances) Nilsson, Prairie du Chien, Wis.; Mrs. John (Charlotte) Penney, Council Bluffs; Mrs. George (Ella Mae) Olsen, and Mrs. Wm. (Nellie) Poethkow, both of Chicago. Two sisters, Miss Eva Crowe and Miss Ella Crowe, both of Elkader, and eighteen grandchildren also survive.

Three sons preceded her in death, John in 1938, Forrest in infancy, and Henry at the age of nine years; also a sister, Mrs. Hubert (Williette) Cook, and a half-brother, Fred Crowe.

Pallbearers were John C. Maehl Jr., Roy Harnack, Max B. Bishop, G. J. Graf, J. W. Downie, and Carl Winkler.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. George Olsen, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Poethkow, Richard Turner, Donlon and Jackson Turner, all of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Nilsson, Prairie du Chien, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Turner, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. John Penney, Council Bluffs; Mr. and Mrs. Clem Nagle and family, Milwaukee, Wis.
