Oscar Frank Meese, was born March 4, 1904, the son of Edward and Anna Bente Meese, on a farm north of Edgewood where he had lived his entire life. He passed away Oct. 26, 1976 at the Delaware County Hospital in Manchester.
He was united in marriage to Kathleen Madden, Feb. 18, 1935 at Littleport. They became the parents of two sons.
He was a retired farmer and a former employee of Iowa Manufacturing in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and the Modern Woodmen.
A Scripture Service was held at Appleton Funeral Home Wednesday evening at 8 pm by Rev. Robert Cooney. Concelebration Mass with Rev. John Walsh and Rev. Albert Carman officiating was held Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m., Oct. 28, 1976 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Littleport.
Survivors are his widow Kathleen of Edgewood; two sons Tom of Edgewood and Terry of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Mike and Vicky Lynn of Manchester, Tim and Todd Meese of Cedar Rapids; four sisters, Mrs. Elmer Tiderman and Mrs. Margaret Hein of Chicago, ILL., Mrs. Elsie Harris of Sacramento Ca. and Mrs. Leona Lewis of Indianapolis, Ind.
Burial was made in St. Mark's Cemetery, Edgewood. Serving as casketbearers were Herb Sprague, Dick Funk, Harold Kelchen, John Wiley, Lowell Zapf and Ernest Harbaugh.
