Nathan C. Batley, 80, of Guttenberg went to be with our Lord on Friday, Dec. 7, 2001 at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital in Guttenberg. Services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the Tuecke-Alyn Funeral Home in Guttenberg. The Rev. Gerald Robertson officiated.. Burial was in Ceres Cemetery in rural Guttenberg. Pallbearers were Dr. John Barron, Greg Barron ,Skip Batley and Adam slavik.

Nathan C. Batley, a 30-year Iowa resident was born Dec. 25, 1920, in Duluth, Minn., and was a son of the late Rey Batley and Ursula (Briggs) Batley. In his youth he loved playing tennis, sailing and golf.

Nathan was a decorated WWII medic in the European theatre and was a captain at the time of his honorable discharge.

He was employed at the Lansing Button Company for 20 years, and then worked for the Hillmark Corporation for a number of years prior to retiring in Guttenberg.

He was a loving husband and father.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Georgann; his daughters, Sandy (Mrs.. John) Barron of Guttenberg; Sharon (Mrs. Adam) Slavik of Detroit, Mich.; his grandchildren, Dana and Greg Barron; and two nephews, Skip Batley of Colorado and David Batley of Marietta, Ga.

He was preceded in death by three brothers Art, Gwin and Ray.

Visitation was held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec .11, at the Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home in Guttenberg.
