ST. OLAF: Mrs. Nellie Embretson died after a short illness, at her home in St. Olaf, April 02 at the age of 76 years, nine months and 26 days.

Funeral services were held from the home in St. Olaf Saturday afternoon, to the Norway Lutheran church at 2:00 p.m., the Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiating. Songs were sung by the St. Olaf Ladies Aid, and by the Norway choir.

The pallbearers were LeRoy Larson, Otto Severson, Waldo Embretson, Lorando Embretson, Orvin Embretson, and Vernon Rugland. Flower girls were Orpha Larson and Mrs. Alonzo Engelhardt.

Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. Nellie Embretson (baptized Ragnild Olina) daughter of Peter and Jorand Helgeson, was born in Clayton county, June 07, 1869 on what was then known as the Helgeson farm west of St. Olaf. She received her education in the rural schools and later attended Wilmar Academy in Minnesota. She taught school several years in the rural communities.

May 11, 1895 she was married to Embret Embretson. They made their home in St. Olaf where she spent the rest of her life. Three children were born to them: Philmon, Edwin Royal, and Edwin Joseph.

She was a faithful member of the Norway Lutheran church and a sincere worker in the Ladies Aid and all church activities.

She is survived by two sons: Philmon and Edwin of St. Olaf; and three step-daughters: Geneva, (Mrs. K. H. Knudson of Monona), Adelia (Mrs. T. A. Johnson of Manning, N.D.), and Ella (Mrs. Oscar Thompson of St. Olaf); also two grandchildren Carl and Paul; two sisters: Mrs. Caroline Johnson of St. Olaf, and Mary (Mrs. Oliver Otterson of Dickenson, N.D.); and one brother Oscar of Walla Walla, Wash., and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Edwin Royal, step-daughter Perrina, one sister, Helen (Mrs. Ole Benson), and three brothers: Hans, Gerald and Hans.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Garber, Jackson, Minn., Mrs. Bess Hogna, Vermillion, S.D., Ben Gulsvig and family, Mrs. G. Bremness, Miss Alma Orveson, Mrs. M. Woldum, all of Decorah; Mrs. Amanda Schultz of Ossian; and Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Smith of Luana.
