LITTLEPORT: Henry Rieck died at his home Saturday evening March 16 at 7:30 o'clock at the age of 67 years 8 months and 24 days.

Henry John Rieck, son of the late William and Sophia Meese Rieck, was born June 22, 1878 in Elk township Clayton county. He was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He farmed several years and spent his entire life in and around Littleport.

February 17, 1904 he was married to Miss Anna Nightingale. Twelve children were born to them all of whom are living. Mr. Rieck was very active until the day he had the misfortune to fall and break his hip, which happened February 1st of this year. He was taken to Iowa City for treatment and returned to his home again February 14 and was then cared for by his wife and family.

He is survived by his wife Anna, five sons, Sylvan, Howard, Marshall, Henry Jr. and Kenneth all at home, and seven daughters, Mrs. Earl (Leta) Kuehl, Mrs. Karl (Iona) Ortman, Mrs. Avery (Marie)
Larson of Littleport, Mrs. Harold (Ilo) Molesworth of Ottumwa, Mrs. Gorda (Fern) Kellogg, Miss Doris Rieck of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. W. H. Van Duyn of Washington state; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Clinton Ponca City, Okla, and Mrs. Anna Clinton; one brother Charles Rieck of Littleport and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sister's Minnie and Mrs. Sophia Lee and one brother, Fred.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon March 20 at the home and Hope Lutheran church at 1:30 o'clock and were in charge of the Rev. E. H. Mueller of Elkport. Music was furnished by Mrs. Donald Kraus, Mrs. Wm. Refle, Mrs. Ransom Ruegnitz and Miss Eileen Reichart accompanied by Mrs. E. H. Mueller.

Pallbearers were Flouris Nading, John Leonard, Fred Liddy, Chas. Hildebrandt, Frank Sylvester and Ray Hughes. Burial was made in Union cemetery.
