John Martin Henry
John Henry Martin, 82, died at his home here Saturday night, February 09. Son of Alexander and Anna Carr Henry, he was born in Cattaragus county, New York, December 29, 1863, and came to Iowa with his parents in 186_, settling in the Cox Creek community north of Strawberry Point.
In 1866 he went in as an apprentice in the E. B. Williams drug store. In 1892 he graduated from Northwestern University as a pharmacist and the same year opened a drug store in Strawberry Point where he remained until going to Greeley in 1926 where he operated a drugstore until retiring to Strawberry Point in 1941.
Mr. Henry was married November 25, 1897 to Margaret M. Ivory. Survivors are the widow, four sons, Charles and Paul of Chicago; Richard and James of Huntington Park, California, a daughter Margaret at home; four brothers, Rovert and William of Strawberry Point; Peter of Rosebush, Michigan;; Alex of Effington, South Dakota; three sisters, Mrs. Kate O'Brien and Mrs. Rose O'Brien of Strawberry Point, Mrs. Margaret Dinan of Elkader, and six grandchildren. A son John and a daughter Alice preceded him in death. Funeral services were Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. at St. Marry's Catholic church. Burial was here.
