ELKPORT: Charles Frederick Challand died Jan. 18 at Edgewood, following an illness of about five years. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Jan. 21, at Edgewood and at Immanuel Lutheran church in Elkport, and burial was made in the church cemetery. The services were in charge of the Rev. E. H. Mueller. The male quartet composed of Francis Behning, Laverne and Marvin Kuehl, and Lowell Thein furnished the music, with accompaniment by Mrs. E. H. Mueller.
Mr. Challand was born May 03, 1868, in Switzerland. He came to this country with his mother when nine years old and made his home in this vicinity since he was in this country. His parents, two brothers, Henry and Edmund Challand, and one sister, Louise (Mrs. Christ Kuehnle) preceded him in death. He was married to Minnie Hammond of Garber July 02, 1900.
He had reach the age of 77 years, eight months and 15 days.
