Marilou June Mathews, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Mathews, Farmersburg, was born Sept. 25, 1946, and died at 6 o'clock Thursday morning, Sept. 07. She was baptized on Nov. 10, 1946, and was enrolled in the beginners' class of St. John's Lutheran Sunday school this past spring and since that time has attended regularly.
Marilou was taken ill on Labor day at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Klasen. Medical aid was summoned and it was thought that she was on the road to recovery. Last Tuesday she was taken to the hospital at Prairie du Chien for a checkup but returned home again, apparently gaining in strength. But last Wednesday night she became very sick and was rushed to the hospital where she died.
Survivors are: her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Mathews, her brother, Jimmie, her twin sister, Marilee, her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Mathews Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Klasen, great-grandfather Fred Mueller Sr., great-grandmother, Mrs. John Schrader, besides many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Sept. 10, 1:45 p.m. at the home and 2 o'clock at St. John's Lutheran church with the Rev. R. H. Steege officiating. Burial was at Farmersburg and Wagner cemetery.
