Milo William Murphy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milo M. Murphy, met death Thursday evening, April 20, northeast of town in an auto accident.

He was born July 20, 1932, in Elkader. He reached the age of 17 years and nine months.

Milo was baptized and confirmed in the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church. He attended Sunday school and church and was a member of the choir. He was an "A" student at the Elkader high school and would have graduated this spring with the class of 1950. Milo was an honor student, and a member of the National Honor society. He sang in the glee club and quartet and was a member of the band and the trombone quartet. Besides his school and church activities he worked at the Clayton County Register office evenings after school.

He is survived by his parents, one sister, Yvonne, at home, his grandfather, Wm. H. Murphy of Chicago, and a grandmother, Mrs. James Nading of Edgewood. Also a number of aunts and uncles and a large circle of friends.

Funeral services were held from the Witt funeral chapel to the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church Sunday Afternoon, April 23, the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating. Burial was in the East Side cemetery. Pallbearers were eight classmates: Duane Kellogg, Ronnie Winch, Dick Buchheim, Gilbert Barnhart, William Ray Hoover, Fred Wilson, Michael Mulroney, and George Leonard. Flower girls: Mary Jane Carlsen, Audrey Meyer and Bonnie Lee Boots, were also from his class.

Relatives from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Alvy Mecklenburg, son David, and Augusta Mecklenburg, Kansas City; Wm. H. Murphy and daughter, Mrs. Geo. Hitz, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lockwood and Mrs. Ed Higgins and son, Chatfield, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. James Nading, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Thurn, Edgewood; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Robbins, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schuldt and Vesta, Strawberry Point; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Nading, Mrs. Eunice Carlson, Froelich; Mr. and Mrs. Art Knutson, Arlington; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Preuss, Oelwein; and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Renwanz, Chicago.
