Jacob Michael Bernhardt, 48, was found dead in the garage at his home in Monona about 8 o'clock Sunday morning by his brother Edward.

Bernhardt had apparently been putting gasoline into the tank of his car with the engine running and the garage door closed, according to Sheriff Forrest Fischer, who investigated.

Death was attributed to suffocation by carbon monoxide poisoning by Coroner Ed. Tuecke of Garnavillo.

Services were held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic church.
