MONONA: Funeral services for john Moses, aged 61, were held at nine-thirty Monday morning from St. Patrick's Catholic church with the Rev. Father Luke Donlon singing the mass of requiem and officiating at the grave. Donald Moses, a grandson of the deceased served as acolyte.
Pallbearers were John Jermier, George Heins, Jr., John Seglar, Dr. William F. Humphrey, Alfred T. Huinker, Fred Melcher, and Joe Melcher. The Knights of Columbus marched in a body from the home to the church. The Mayor and City Council of which Mr. Moses was a member attended the funeral in a body as did most of the Monona business men.
Surviving Mr. Moses are his wife, Mrs. Anna Lestina Moses, two sons, Lawrence and Leo Moses of Monona, two daughters, Mrs. Elmer Holly of Monona and Mrs. Werner Johanningmeier of Cedar Rapids, three grandsons, Donald and Darwin Moses and Norbery Holly; two granddaughters, Dolores Holly and Germaine Johanningmeier; three brothers, Simon E. Moses and Jacob R. Moses of Monona and Joseph Moses of Madison, Neb; and four sisters, Mrs. Joseph Lotza and Mrs. Joseph Tayek of Monona, Mrs. Bert Ferguson of Farmersburg and Mrs. Elizabeth McClure of Malcolm, Ia.
His parents and two brothers Albert and Thomas preceded him in death.
Mr. Moses for a number of years ran the Shell service station and served as mayor and was councilman at the time of his death.
Mr. and Mrs. Vlad E. Macha, Prosper, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ferguson, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Ferguson, and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ferguson, of McGregor, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Tayek, and H. Oelberg of Elkader attended the funeral of John Moses Monday morning. Mr. Moses was an uncle of Mrs. Macha, Fred, Ward and Clarence Ferguson.
