GARBER: Funeral services for Ira Hansel were held Monday afternoon in the St. John's church with the Rev. Gaterman officiating. Burial was made in the Hansel cemetery. Pallbearers were George Moser, Lloyd Walters, Louis, Leo, Virgil and Cecil Hansel.
Ira Andrew Hansel, son of George and Mary Hansel, born August 07, 1869, died June 05, 1942, at his home at the age of 72 years, nine months and 28 days. He had five brothers and three sisters. Three brothers, John, George and Jesse, preceded him in death.
He was united in marriage to Ida Mae Wheaton on August 31, 1896. This union was blessed with eight children of whom Oliver True died in 1925 and Howard in 1941. His death is mourned by his widow, the children, Perry and Mrs. George Moser of Osterdock, Ira Earl of Grand Rapids, Mich., Mrs. Lee Klingman of Elkader, Mrs. Lloyd Walters of Garber, and Elmer at home; three sisters, Mrs. Matilda Harbaugh of Earlville, Mrs. Jenny Mickels of Owatonna, Minn., and Mrs. Jane Gray of Dubuque; two brothers, Realto of Garber and Japen of Manchester, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Hansel spent his entire life in this community and was a highly respected citizen and neighbor.
