Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the late home and 2:00 at the Frieden's Evangelical and Reformed church for Mrs. Arthur Schmidt of Read township. Burial was made in the Clayton Center cemetery, the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating. Casket bearers were Louis Glawe, Harley Kalke, Irvin Huebner, Geo. Kahlbaum, Lawrence Glawe and Otto Beyer.

The deceased, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Engelhardt, was born August 07, 1892, in Wagner township and died at her home in Read township, Saturday afternoon, April 25th, at the age of 49 years, nine months and 18 days.

She attended the country school and on January 29th, 1913, she was united in marriage with Arthur Schmidt. One son, Levern, was born to this union.

After their marriage the couple moved to the farm in Read township, where she resided until her death.

Mrs. Schmidt had been in failing health for the past six years, although not confined to her bed, was forced to stay at home most of the time. Wednesday evening Mrs. Schmidt suffered a stroke and never regained consciousness.

Mrs. Schmidt was baptized and confirmed in and a member of the Frieden's Evangelical and Reformed church and a regular attendant when her health permitted. She was a good wife and mother and will be missed greatly by her husband and son, who survive her.

Besides her husband and son, she is survived by the following sisters and brothers, Wm., Engelhardt of Lime Springs, Mrs. Henry Jarms of Monona, Albert Engelhardt of Farmersburg, Mrs. Ed. Kurth of Farmersburg township, Frank and Arno Engelhardt of St. Olaf and Postville respectively. Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
