Virginia Mae Thurber was born May 28, 1914, in Elkader, and died in an Omaha, Nebr., hospital April 11, after an illness of several months. She spent the first three years of her life in Elkader, then moved with her family to Mason City. Later, following the death of her mother, the family returned to Elkader.
She married Earl Sterns of Rushville, Nebr., on May 23, 1941, and had since made her home in Rushville, until she was taken ill last December.
Surviving are her husband, her father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Thurber of Cornell, Ill., four brothers, Joe and Jim of Berkley, Calif., Cecil of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Charles of Elkader, and one sister, Mrs. Wm. Crane of Elkader, besides her great-grandmother, Mrs. Thurber of Edgewood, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, April 13, at the Witt funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. George Richter. Burial was in the Mederville cemetery beside her mother.
