STRAWBERRY POINT: Funeral services for Mrs. Lee Scheffler were held at the Emanuel's Lutheran church Sunday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Lawrence A. Stumme. Burial was made in Strawberry Point cemetery.
As Amelia Domn, daughter of Ferdinand and Caroline Domn, she was born in East Prussia, Germany on Jan. 18, 1861, and died Friday morning after a lingering illness. She and Mr. Scheffler came to this country on the same boat landing in New York, April 19, 1883. She came west at once and Mr. Scheffler remained in New York a month. On Oct. 31, 1883, they were united in marriage at the Emanuel's Lutheran church by the Rev. G. Graf, now of Dubuque. The home was made on farms until Dec. 12, 1919 when they moved to town. The golden wedding anniversary was celebrated at the Emanuel's Lutheran church in 1933 of which both had been faithful members for many years. They were the parents of three children, one daughter, Mrs. Fred Haufle, passed away several years ago at her home in Snohomish, Wash. Surviving are the aged husband and two children, August of Arlington and Louise at home. Also 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. For a number of years a grandson, Florian Haufle, made his home with them after the death of his parents.
