At the home of his son Edward, in this city, on Thursday morning, September 8th, 1910, occurred the death of Lewis Klingman, aged 82 years, 2 months and 2 days.

Mr. Klingman was born in Baden, Germany, July 6th, 1828, and in 1852 came to the United States with his father and brother Martin, and sister Elizabeth. They settled in Cayuga Co., Ohio, and in 1856 he came to Clayton Co., Iowa, settling in Highland township, where he has since resided.

He was united in marriage with Elizabeth Lowe, April 8th, 1858, who was his companion for nearly 52 years, she dying March 10, 1910. To them were born four sons and three daughters.

He leaves to mourn his death one brother, four sons, two daughters, eighteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mr. Klingman was a veteran of the Civil war, serving in the 15th Regiment Iowa Volunteers.

Mr. Klingman was a man of the best character, faithful to every obligation of husband, father and friend, and his memory will be cherished long in the hearts of those who have known him.

The funeral discourse was delivered by Rev. J.S. Moore from 2nd Kings, 20th chapter and 1st verse. Interment was made in the Illyria cemetery.
