Funeral services were held Monday at nine o'clock at the Sacred Heart church for William Lewis, 77, who died Friday, August 31, at Oakdale. The pastor, the Rev. D. T. Noonan, celebrated the requiem high mass and officiated at the grave-side.
Mr. Lewis, better known in this community as "Pete" Lewis, resided in Volga City for a number of years and was employed at various jobs. He was an orphan and attended school for eight years in an orphan's home in New York state. When a young man, he came west and made his home in Volga.
Several years ago, he went to Hopkinton where he resided, and two weeks before his death was taken to Oakdale where he died.
The remains were brought to the Blake and Gill funeral chapel in Volga, Sunday.
Burial was in the Sacred Heart cemetery, Volga.
Casket bearers were: William Morse, C. E. Lovet, Leo Little, William Christeleit, W. C. Goodin and James Bergan.
There are no known surviving relatives.
