GARNAVILLO: William A. Kregel, 84, mayor of Garnavillo from 1924 to 1934, died at his home here just before noon, Wednesday, July 04, after a several months' illness. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon by the Rev. V. Hackbarth, pastor of St. Paul's Evangelical church, at the Dickman funeral home and burial services were held by the Masonic lodge.

Mr. Kregel was born Dec. 06, 1860 on a farm a few miles southeast of Garnavillo. His parents were Henry Kregel and the former Sophia Hespe. He received his education in the rural schools and later moved to town where he was engaged in carpenter work. He was a __rd degree Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Oddfellow lodge.
