Clayton County Register, 12 July 1945.

STRAWBERRY POINT: Jess Oran McLane, age 56, died at his home Sunday. He was born at Strawberry Point January 18, 1889, the son of Cora Mae Bryan and Albert Lee McLane. On October 24, 1935 he was married to Fern Fisher.

His entire lifetime has been spent in this community where he farmed until the past eight years. After his retirement he served as city marshall for the last five years.

He was a member of the Methodist church, and served in World war I.

Surviving besides his wife are one brother Harry McLane, two sisters, Mrs. Viola Otterbeck and Mrs. Glen Way all of Strawberry Point, five step-children, Lt. Bernard Fisher in the service at Tampa, Florida; Clyde Fisher, Oakland, California; Wilma L. Corell of Dubuque; Clyde L. Fisher and Norma Johnson of Strawberry Point.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Thursday; Burial here.
