Vera L. Dittmer, wife of A. R. Dittmer, chairman of the county Board of Supervisors, died May 20, at Finley Hospital, Dubuque, following a major operation. She had been ill for one week.

Vera L. Dittmer, daughter of Fred and Carrie Alderson, was born August 02, 1901, in Lodomillo township and lived with her parents in Mederville.

She married Arthur R. Dittmer, December 01, 1926, in Manchester. She was the mother of six children, Mary, Neil, Norbert, Wendel and twins Dwight and Dwain.

Mrs. Dittmer received her early education in the Mederville school. She graduated from Elkader high school in 1920 and attended Upper Iowa University. At the time of her death she was president of the Strawberry Point American Legion Auxiliary, was a member of the Victory Club and did promotion work for the local 4 H clubs.

Her father preceded her in death in 1926. Surviving besides her husband and six children are her mother, Mrs. Carrie Alderson, a brother, Clarence Alderson, and two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Kramer and Mrs. Albert Behrens all of Mederville.

Mrs. Dittmer was a member of the Strawberry Point Lutheran church from which funeral services were held by the Rev. Meyers, May 22. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Paul Olinger, John Moyna, George O'Brien, Ralph Bente, Merrill Smith and Joe McTaggart.
