The community was saddened and shocked Friday, when it was learned of the unexpected and untimely death of Mrs. H. H. Peterman which occurred at 10 a.m. Friday at her home north of town. Mrs. Peterman, who had been ill the past two weeks, apparently was improving when she was stricken without warning. Death was due to embolism.
Hazel Ruth Probert, daughter of Oa__n and Martha Probert, was born April 13, 1908, on a farm in Highland township. She attended the rural school in her district and also the Volga high school from which she was graduated in 1926. Later, she attended Iowa State Teachers college at Cedar Falls. During her first year of teaching, her mother died. She then gave up teaching and remained at home with her father and family.
On March 06, 1933, she was married to Herman H. Peterman of Wadena. Two children were born to them: Gerald Duane, 5, and an infant daughter, Janet Kay, three weeks old.
Since their marriage they have lived on her father's farm in Highland township.
Besides her husband and two children she is survived by her father, H. O. Probert, three brothers, Dean and Glen Probert of Volga City and George of the U.S. Navy, three nieces and one nephew, her aunt, Mrs. C. A. Brandt of Volga City, and other relatives.
Her mother and one sister, Florence, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian church. The Rev. H. A. Wilke, pastor of the Arlington and Wadena Lutheran churches officiated.
Casket bearers were: Robert Longmuir, Mervyn Gregerson, Francis Kitterman, Floyd Paterson, Jr., Fay Whittenbaugh and Leallen Knox of Wadena.
Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery, Volga City.
