Funeral services for John Paul Meyer, 80, who died suddenly of a heart attack at his home in Blairstown, Ia., on Friday evening, March 02, were held at the Friedens Evangelical and Reformed church here at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.

John Paul Meyer, the son of Frederick and Louise Wilke Meyer, was born September 10, 1864, on a farm in Boardman township five miles north of Elkader. With the exception of twelve years, Mr. Meyer spent his entire life in Boardman township. He received his education in the rural schools.

On June 15, 1893, at Genoa Bluffs, Ia., he was married to Miss Louise Reinhardt. The couple started farming on the place adjoining the farm on which Mr. Meyer was born and which they later purchased. This was their home until they retired and moved to Elkader in 1916. Thirteen years ago they moved to Blairstown, Ia., which has since been their home.

Mr. Meyer was a member of the Elkader lodge No. 72.

Mr. and Mrs. Meyer were privileged to celebrate their golden anniversary here in the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Meyer, on June 13, 1943.

Surviving besides the widow are two sons, Eldo and Arthur J., and two daughters, Florence, Mrs. Harry O. Larson, and Ethel, Mrs. Lyle Barthel, all of Elkader, one sister, Mrs. Mary Meisner of Chicago, Ill., and one brother Henry of Castalia, also ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Eldon Kruse, Dr. M. L. Knutson, Eiler Jensen, Ray O. Glesne, Ray Tieden and Arno Gottschalk

Relatives attending funeral from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meyer, Mrs. William Timmerman, Mrs. Ruby Peckem, Nanf_rd Meyer, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Buddenberg, Mrs. Geo. Schultz, of Castalia; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Garms, of Monona; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bennett and Vernon Meyer, of Clermont; Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Meyer, Mrs. Theo. Meyer, Gerald Meyer and Mrs. Arnold Roggman of Garnavillo.
