Clayton County Register, 07 Dec. 1944.

STRAWBERRY POINT: Miss Mary O. Scofield, 78, died Thursday at the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Hannah Scofield, following a lingering illness. She was the daughter of George and Susan Scofield born at Strawberry Point June 23, 1855, and spent her entire life here. She was a member of the first class to graduate from the Strawberry Point High School, also a member of the Congregational church, Mary Knight Chapter D.A.R., and O.E.S. Survivors are a brother William Scofield of Portland, Ore., three sisters Miss Georgia Scofield of Ft. Dodge, Mrs. C. A. Gable of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. C. H. Arnold of Portland. Funeral services were held at the Congregational church Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. O'Neill. Burial was here.
