Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Klinkenberg, 77, were held at St. John's Lutheran church at Farmersburg last Wednesday, Nov. 22 and burial was made at Clayton Center.
Mrs. Klinkenberg, the daughter of John and Wilhelmina Mueller was born on a farm near National, Iowa, March 06, 1867. In 1880 she was confirmed in Clayton Center by Rev. Seifert. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran church and a member of the Ladies Aid.
In 1890 she was married to Herman Klinkenberg. With her husband she settled on a farm near St. Olaf. This continued to be her home for 27 years. To this union were born four children: Lucy, Mrs. Arthur Schmidt of Farmersburg; Fred and Bertha who died in infancy; Mathilda, Mrs. Henry Lubbers of Farmersburg. Mr. and Mrs. Klinkenberg retired to Farmersburg where they lived for 26 years. This period of retirement was broken by the death of Mr. Klinkenberg Jan. 03, 1940. After the death of her husband Mrs. Klinkenberg continued to live alone until this past year when her daughter and son-in-law moved in with her and cared for her. For the past five months Mrs. Klinkenberg has been in failing health. She died Sunday Nov. 19 at 7:20 p.m.
She leaves to mourn her two daughters, Mrs. Lucy Schmidt and Mrs. Mathilda Lubbers, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, also four sisters: Mrs. Dora Frederick of Emmetsburg, Mrs. Lizzie Schmidt of St. Olaf, Mrs. Anna Kahle of Humboldt, S.Dak., Mrs. Martha Faber, Ionia, Ia., and many other relatives and friends.
