Elkader Argus - Volga Items column, Page 8, 23-NOV-1892

The funeral services of Mr. Joseph Sherman, a former residence of this place, were held in the M. E. church in this place today, Rev. J. G. Whitford preaching the discourse. The remains were brought from West Union, where Mr. Sherman died at the home of his son, Robert Sunday, November 20. Six children and a large number of grand children are left to mourn his death
