GARBER: Funeral services for Henry Haack were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's church at Garber. The Rev. S. E. Birkner, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Mt. Harmony cemetery.
Pallbearers were Earl Brown, George Webber, Leo Flaherty of the town council and Joe Kainz, Wm. Vorwald and August Ortman, bank directors.
Henry Haack, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Haack, was born at Grebs, Germany, July 11, 1869. He died Friday, Sept. 22, 1944, after an illness of several months' duration.
Mr. Haack came to this country with his parents in 1880 and they settled on a farm in Volga township where he lived until 1911 when he moved to Garber.
He was baptized as a child in the Christian church and confirmed in the Immanual Lutheran church of Elkport. He became a charter member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church when it was organized in 1925.
Mr. Haack was a director of the Farmers Savings Bank of Garber for 34 years and also a member of the town council for about 17 years.
He is survived by the following nieces and nephews: John Steeman, Waterloo; Henry Steeman, Elgin; Anna Steeman, Garnavillo; Amanda, Henry and Alice Sommer, Elkader; and also by John William and Lena Henrichs, Garber, and Mrs. Carl Bruening, Osterdock, cousins.
