Littleport - Funeral services for Harold (Bud) H. Liddy, 66, owner and operator of Liddy's Store in Littleport for 43 years, from 1927 to January 1970, when ill health forced him to retire, were held Monday, Feb. 15, at Sacred Heart Catholic church at 10 a.m. Father J.J. McBride officiating, with burial at Union Cemetery.

The oldest son of Fred J. and Louise Pust Liddy, he was born in Littleport, December 11, 1904, and died at Memorial Hospital at Manchester, Friday, Feb. 12, 1971.

He was a member of the first class to graduate from the Littleport High School in 1924. For one year he attended Capitol City Commercial College at Des Moines. He was councilman, clerk and mayor of Littleport for many years, served on the Clayton County Board of Education School system for 17 years, from 1948 to 1965, served a term as clerk of court of Clayton County, and was one of the original founders and served on the first board of directors of the Four Oaks Country Club of Elkader.

November 28, 1929, at Dubuque, he was united in marriage to Mary Thillman. Two daughters were born to this union, Mrs. Warren (Susan) Trask, St. Louis, Mo., and Martha Liddy, San Francisco.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Theresa and Steven Trask, St. Louis, Mo.; one brother, Donald Liddy, Littleport; two sisters, Mrs. William (Gertrude) Klieh, and Mrs. Lina Shaw, both of Dubuque.

Pallbearers were Dan Barton, Lowell Thein, Ransom Ruegnitz, Lowell Zapf, Harry Nielsen and Earl Hakert.
