Miss Joyce Eileen Oldfather and Kenneth J. Scott were united in marriage at the Volga Methodist church Thursday, August 06. The Rev. Leslie J. Faris of Buck Creek officiated. Miss Donna Sloan, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. Gus Bachtell of Arlington was best man. Melvyn Puffett, brother-in-law of the bride served as an usher. Mrs. Wallace Oldfather was pianist.
The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Oldfather. She graduated from the Volga high school in 1952. Following one term at Upper Iowa university, she has been employed in Oelwein, until recently. The groom is the only son of Mrs. George Thompson. He is a graduate of the Arlington high school, and has been engaged in farming, with the exception of a few months in the armed forces.
A reception was held in the church parlors, at which the bride's sister, Mrs. Melvyn Puffett, cut the cake, and Doris Sloan, the bride's cousin, and Carol Kruempel, the groom's niece, were in charge of the guest book and wedding gift table.
Following a short wedding trip the young couple will reside on the groom's mother's farm north of Volga.
